Medieval Scriptorium was created from a historical visual reference depicting a medieval scribe working at his writing station. Rather than designing the asset from a general medieval aesthetic, we used the reference image as the foundation of the project, following its overall structure, proportions, and working arrangement throughout the modeling process.
Our goal was to translate the character of the historical reference illustration into a realistic and functional asset while preserving the practical nature of a medieval manuscript workspace.

The setup includes a quill pen, a dedicated holder, a horn inkwell, and parchment placed directly on the writing surface. We focused on keeping their placement practical and consistent with the way the workstation is represented in our visual references.
These smaller details help the asset feel like an actively used writing space rather than simply a piece of medieval furniture.
Oil Lamp

The workstation also includes a suspended oil lamp, designed to provide a historically inspired lighting element for the writing area.
The lamp is taken from our Medieval Lighting Pack, where we explored medieval lighting in greater detail through oil lamps, candles, chandeliers, hooks, chains, and suspension systems.
